WELLINGTON, April 27. The racehorse Lineage, was killed near Trentham on Saturday. The horse was being ridden along Camp Road, bolted, colliding with a motor car, receiving such injuries as necessitated the animal being destroyed. The jockey, Minchin, was unhurt.

PHAR LAP INDISPOSED MELBOURNE, April 26. Racing circles are much interested in the announcement that the mighty Phar Lap, which is grazing at Bacchus Alarch, is indisposed, and refuses to eat. In fact, he is in a bad way. His trainer, Woodrock, is of the opinion that it is quite possible that Phar Lap will not be seen in action again. He certainly is likely to be an absentee from the spring carnivals. The horse is a wreck of his former self. V.R.C. STAKES REDUCED MELBOURNE, April 25. The Victoria Racing Club Committee has decided to reduce the stakes of many of its important races. The Melbourne Cup is being reduced by three thousand to seven thousand pounds; the Cantala Stakes and the Maribyrnong Plate by £5OO each; the Victoria Derby and Sires Produce Stakes each by one thousand sterling.
