OPERA HOUSE —TO-NIGHT. As natural a picture as has been seen on a screen for some time, replete with both the comic and pathetic moments of life, will be screened tonight and Thursday in the form ot Metro-Gpldwyn-Mayer’s all - talking production, “The Richest Man in the World,” which marks the initial screen appearance of Louis Mann, veteran of the stage. The reasons for the lifelike qualities of this picture lie in the simplicity of its story of an old German barbel' who has difficulties in raising a large brood of children, and the effective performance upon the part of Louis Mann in the central role. BLACKBALL TO-NIGHT. “The Lady of Scandal” will be screened to-night and Thursday. GRAND DANCE ASSEMBLY. Dancers are assured of a good night at the Grand Dance Assembly Cabaret, Friday night, at Herb Moore’s. Dancing until midnight. Steel’s full orchestra in attendance. Splendid novelties. BLACKBALL “COAL DIGGERS”

A bright variety entertainment was presented by the Blackball “Coal Diggers” concert party at the Town Hall last night, with the object of raising funds for the relief of distress in Blackball. The local talent taking part in the show, under the able leadership of Mrs. Nita Golden, was much appreciated by the audience. The incidental music and the accompaniments were rendered efficiently by an orchestra under the conductorship of Miss Campbell. The programme was: “Sunny Side Up,” and “Pull Together,” the Company; “Mucking about the Garden,” Jim Kerr; duet,, “Rose 'of My Heart/’ Miss Rogers and Mr. W. McNeal; “Sing a Little Sambo,” Ted Sheian; “Tambourine Dance,” Mrs. Nita Golden; “I’m a Dreamer,” Miss Elsie Rogers; Irish Jig, Miss Grade Rogers; “My Wife is on a Diet,” J. Meikle and girls; song, “Little Town in the Old Country Down,” J. Meikle; duet, “Colorado,” Miss Grace Rogers and B. McNeal; finale, “Jollity Farm,” with Miss Graham dancing; “Two by Two,” song and march by the Company; “Scotch Dance,” Mrs. Nita Golden; song, “Sands of the Desert Grow Cold,” Mr. Burns; Dance by the Girls; Skipping Dance, Miss Grace Rogers; song, “Come Sing to Me,” Ted Shean; “Sailors’ ■ Hornpipe,” Miss Grace Rogers; song, “Joy Bird,” Mrs. Oliver; Toe Dance, Mrs. Nita Golden; Ballet Dance,-J. Kerr, T. Shean and W. Smith; Sketch and song, “New Kind of Love,” Ron Neilson; song, “One Alone,” Miss Rose Rogers; finale by the Company, with Mrs. Golden and Jim ' Meikle dancing. ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY CONCERT An attractive programme and one that should appeal to all lovers of music has been arranged for the second subscription concert of the Orchestral Society, which takes place in the Town Hall to-night, and a large attendance of subscribers is expected. The assisting vocalists for the evening Will be Mrs R. W. Baumgart and Mr J. Duffy. CIVIC BAND.. The Civic Band has booked the Town Hall for their first Members’ Concert to be held on May 19. A first-class programme has been prepared, and in addition the Band is being assisted by the cream of local talent. Intending subscribers are asked to notify the Secretary or any Bandsman immediately.
