GRAIN AND PRODUCE CHRISTCHURCH, April 21. The principal activity in the wheat section is in fowl wheat. Prompt is quoted at 5/- to 5/1 f.o.b. The quotation for May delivery is 5/3. There lias been an immediate weakening in the potato position, owing to 'larger quantities offering. From 85/- f.o.b. for prompt shipment, yesterday, they fell to 75/- to-day. July-Sep-tember quotations remains unaltered. On present quotations potatoes are worth £2/15/- a ton to growers on trucks. The market is not strong. BANK DIVIDEND WELLINGTON, April 22. The National Bank of New Zealand is advised by the National B a nk o Australasia, that it will pay a dividend of eight per cent, on both classes of shares. At to-day’s wool sales the offerings totalled 9355 bales, of which 8735 were sold, also 144 privately. Values held well, and the competition was mostly keen, with an improved Japanese and Continental demand. Greasy merino made twenty pence.
