BOXING

N.Z. LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE [per press association.] AUCKLAND, April 9. Owing to a technical breach of the rules on the part of the Northern Boxing Association in not applying to the New Zealand Council for a permit to hold the contest for the lightweight championship of the Dominion, the title is still held by H. Johns, of Auckland. Johns was recently defeated on points by Tommy Donovan, of New Plymouth. Donovan, however, cannot be officially recognised as the title holder on account of the minor breach mentioned.
