KUMARA NOTES

[our own correspondent.] Old residents of the Kumara district will learn with regret of the death of Mrs Wooldrige, which took place at her residence, Pahiatua, on January 14. Tho deceased lady was born at Swansea, Wales, being a daughter of the late Captain H. Davis, of Bristol. As a young woman she came out to New Zealand, settling in Kumara, where she remained many years. She was married to the late Mr J. Wooldrige, at Hokitika. From Kumara they went to the North Island, and for about fifteen years were engaged in farming. Twelve years ago they retired, taking up their residence in Pahiatua. Deceased, who was 83 years of age, was an accomplished musician. Her husband predeceased her about seven years ago. At Thursday’s sitting of the Magistrate’s Court, W. Stewart, charged with allowing six sheep to wander, was fined 10/-, with costs. J. B, Manzoni for allowing one horse to wander, was fined 10/-, with costs. J. Ferguson was charged with allowing one bull to wander at large on the Beach Road, and was fined £l, with costs. J. Murphy, charged with allowing one horse to wander at large, was fined 10/-, with costs. Judgment by default was given for plaintiffs in the following cases: — McGrath and Co. v. T.
