SHIPOWNER BANKRUPT
WIFE OPENS SHOP. BANGOR, October 10. The public examination of Sir Robert J. Thomas, shipowner, and a former Liberal M.P. for Anglesey, was resumed at Bangor Bankruptcy Court to-day. The total liabilities were £251,041, the deficiency being £89,029. Questioned regarding a bank overdraft Sir Robert said that if the banks called in all their overdrafts, half the country would be in the Bankruptcy Court. He denied that anyone had offered to buy his company; it was never for sale. Mr R. F. Jones (for certain credi tors): I believe Lady Thomas has opened a greengrocery shop at Holyhead. Sir Robert: Yes, and that is the only means of livelihood we have. He stated that his former expenditure of £6OOO a year was not extravagant, considering that at that time he had three houses, and his income was .. _.,,000 a year. The examination was adjourned till December 19.
