OPERA HOUSE

“Splinters,” the all British masterpiece comedy will be finally presented this evening.

FRIDAY

Lois Moran makes her bow as a singer and dancer in “Words and Music,” an all-singing, dancing, and talking musical revue to be screened at the Opera House, Friday and Saturday. Miss. Moran sings two numbers, as well as playing the lead throughout the story. Co-featured with her are Tom Patricola and pa.vid Percy, wjhile Helen Twelvetrees, Frank Albertson and Elizabeth Patterson have prominent roles. Reginald Denny brings down laughs in “Embarrassing Moments,” his latest Universal dialogue comedy, which is the other star picture in Friday and Saturday’s programme. Denny finds himself the imaginary “trial husband” of a girl he has never seen. His appearance in a conservative family leads to complications. Beautiful titian-haired Merna Kennedy plays the part of Denny’s “trial wife.” Otis Harlan contributes to the hilarity in the role of Merna’s watchful father, who believes old-fashioned matrimony is the only kind. Others in the strong cast are William Austin, Virginia Sale, Greta Granstedt and Mary Foy. The short talkies include “The Collegians” and Amy Johnson’s arrival at Brisbane.

MAWHERA DANCE.

The Mawhera Club have several new novelties on hand. The frog dance will be a special attraction for next Saturday night in the Oddfellows’ Hall. This will be quite a mystery dance. Join in and win the valuable prizes. Steel’s full orchestra will supply the latest music.
