ADDINGTON MARKET.

FAT CATTLE DEARER.

[per press association.]

CHRISTCHURCH, July 23

The principal feature of the weekly Metropolitan market at Addington to-day was an advance in fat cattle values. The entry was again fairly heavy, and included over one hundred head of steers from the North Island. The early stage of the auction saw values as much as £l/10/a head above the previous week’s sales, while on an average over the whole sale the increase was up to £1 a head for all classes. The fat lamb entry was very small as is only to be expected at this season of the year, but those penned sold very firmly at late rates. The store sheep entry was also small, and comprised in the main of unattractive sorts. The basis of values ruling at recent sales was maintained. Ewes, near to lambing, were wanted, and their sale was good. The sale for fat sheep was steady, although there was an easier tone in evidence throughout.
