SHEARERS ON STRIKE.

SYDNEY, July 23.
Shearing at a few of the country centres is being held up by strikers against the new award, reducing payment by 20 per cent. The Grazers’ Association has warned the recalcitrants that their positions may be filled with volunteer labour.
Seven shearers were prosecuted at Moree, N.S.W., to-day for failure to comply with the new award. Each was fined. £5. They were regarded as test cases. The Union is appealing. SYDNEY, July 24.
The Graziers’ Association decided to call for volunteers immediately- to fill the positions of the shearers who refused work under the new award. It was also announced that, many moresummonses be issued against the strikers forthwith. “UNEMPLOYED” STRIKE. (Received July 24, 8 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 23. The unemployed on relief works are again on strike. The police drove agitators away. The Minister of Public Works has ordered all relief works to cease until Monday, when other gangs will be employed. Rations for the strikers will be stopped. SEAMEN’S UNION. MELBOURNE, July 23. The Industrial Registrar has granted an application for the re-registra-tion of the Seamen’s ' Union of Australia. which was de-registered after a succession of strikes five years ago. STATE TO BE SUED. SYDNEY, July 24. The Clothing Trade Union has issued summons against the State Government for making deductions from the wages of State clothing factory employees.
