HEAVY RAIN CAUSES DAMAGE.
[per press association.]
THAMES, July 7.

The tw’o streams, Hape and Karaka, burst their banks, and flood w r aters streamed through the town, invading residences, some of which had a foot of water over the floors. Fortunately, high tide being at 3.20. the water was not banked up for long, but left a heavy mud deposit everywhere.
In the country, the Kirikiri stream overflowed the main road doing considerable damage.
A large slip is reported on the Taupo-Coroglen road. One tunnel of the Borough waterrace collapsed, carrying away about half a chain of fluming. Water power users will be unable to run till this is repaired.
