BUCKBALL NOTES
[OUB OWN CORRESPONDENT.] The local mine has been working slack time lately, only five shifts .being worked the last fortnight. The mine was also idle last Thursday and Friday, but resumed w r ork this morning. Great interest was evinced in the quointing match on Saturday between D. Smith (Dobson) and R. Simpson (Blackball). The former was no match for Simpson, who led throughout and eventually w r on by 61 to 40. A return match is to be played at Dobson at an early date, but on the last two games as a guide the Dobson man. has little chance with the local man. About fifty enthusiasts made the trip to Christchurch on Saturday, and they all expressed themselves as well satisfied with the splendid game they witnessed.
Mr Jas. White arrived from Christ church on Saturday.
Mrs J. Hutchinson, who has been on an extended holiday z to Australia, returned home on Saturday. Mr L. Kinsella left for Wellington this morning.
