MORGAN’S APPEAL DISMISSED.

[PER I'RESS ASSOCIATION.]

AVELLINGTON, May 8

Through refusing to box on when ordered to do so by the referee, in his contest with Reg Trowern at Gisborne on February 14 last, Ted Morgan, of AVellington, lost the fight. “Tho appeal must be disallowed,” said the Boxing Council. “We would like- to add that the whole mattei’ is regrettable. It is impossible to deny that an injustice would probably have been done to whichever contestant lost tho fight after the initial mistake was made. For this wo hold the referee entirely to blame. Unfortunately, we have no power to do anything other than to give a decision under the rules, as tho matter now stands.” The initial mistake referred to Trowern being allowed out of the ring and remaining out for several minutes. A special meeting of the New Zealand Boxing Council will be held on Monday next to consider the position respecting the action of the Hawke’s Bay Boxing Association in withholding Morgan’s end of the purse in his contest with Lou Bloom on April 11 last, in which Morgan was disqualified.
