UNPAID FOR TICKETS

A COUNTESS SUED. [BY CABLE—PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] LONDON, March 29. Society is interested in a peculiar court case. Lady Edward- Spencer Churchill sued the Countess of Mayo, one of her best friends, for four guineas for two tickets for a hospital ball last June. The action was not defended, and an order was made for payment within fourteen days. “I did it as a warning,” said Lady Spencer Churchill. “This sort of thing is going on in th© neighbour hood.” The Countess of Mayo said: “Lady Spencer Churchill and myself are great friends. The money relates to two tickets which I sold for the ball. Payment was overlooked through sheer carelessness and pressure of public duties.”
