Eleven persons were killed in car accidents in Australia during the week-end, and at least five others were critically injured. Lois Crowley, aged six, is dead, and makes the fifth victim of the level crossing accident near Werribee. FIBRE FROM PLANTS SYDNEY, February 17. Mr. H. Theodore Price, who has carried out successful experiments with cellulose, has now invented a process for exacting fibre from plants without the aid of chemicals or netting, and good fibre from cornstalks has been produced, also synthetic cotton. He began his experiments in Northern Queensland. He now resides near Sydney. He expects to leave for America and England shortly, and intends to visit Now Zealand.
