A meeting of one thousand farmers and farm workers, at Aberdeen, passed a resolution calling the Government’s attention to the crisis in arable farming, and expressing the opinion that their industry could only be maintained by the control of imports and of the economic price for home products. PEER’S SON KILLED LONDON, February 16. Captain Alexander George Agar-Ro-bartes, the youngest son of Viscount Clifden, fell from a window on the third floor of. his father’s house at Grosvenor Square, and was killed. A policeman saw Robartes, clad in a dressing gown, appear at the balcony and crash on the pavement. The deceased was suffering from' a nervous breakdown. He served in the Grenadier Guards during the War, and was A.D.C. to Lord Chelmsford in India. AFGHAN REVOLT ENDED. DELHI, February 15. The Shinwari revolt has ended abruptly, Nadir Khan’s troops having recaptured Torkham, routed the tribesmen, and captured a number of their ringleaders. Road traffic between Peshawar and Kabul has resumed. CENTENARIAN~HONOURED. LONDON, February 17. “The Times’s’’ Paris correspondent states: A unique honour was conferred on a centenarian farm labourer, Joseph Zalewski, aged 103, who was appointed Chevalier of the Legion, of Honour. The citation states: “Starting work on a farm at the age of ten, he has remained a native of the soil ever since. Even now he works in the fields with his great-grandchildren. ” PENALTIES FOR NOISE. NEW YORK, February 17. Fines for noisy parties, too loud speakers, anti-tooting, and squeaky brakes are recommended by the Noise Abatement Commission. Ten shillings is the average fine for these various offences. The fine will be doubled for offences after eleven o’clock at night. KAYE-PIPER FLIGHT. LONDON, February 17. A message from Amman states that Pipe and Kaye had left for Baghdad.
