SHEEP-TRAIN MISHAP
LOADED TRUCKS. RUN AWAY (Per Press Association.) OHAKUNE, February 15. A train of 27 trucks of sheep left Raetihi at 12.30 a.m., and when between Rochfort and Ohakune, it was found that the engine was unable to draw the load. The train was divided, the engine taking about 15 trucks on to Ohakune Junction, leading the guard in charge of the remainder. The guard put on'the-brakes, and went along the line, placing detonators to warn the engine driver, when returning, of his approach to the trucks. The trucks, however, started off, and gathering speed, they travelled about -seven miles round several curves, over bridges, and up inclines and a gradient of one in fifty and crashed into a stopblock at the terminus of tne line at the end of the Raetihi yard- A van and about nine loaded J™ck we re over the bank.
