CRICKET
STARS DEFEAT KOKIRI. Stars and Kokiri juniors played a cricket competition fixture yesterday at Victoria Park, under inclement weather conditions. Stars won the game on the first innings, securing a two-point victory. Kokiri batted first and made 67 runs, Curtain (26) being the chief scorer. For Star’s first innings total of 82, McNabb contributed 20, Nelson 15, and six men 21. Kokiri’s second strike realised 97 runs. Stars then decided to stonewall and had batted for 17 overs (Nelson and McNabb batting) without gaining a run, w.hen rain came on and the game had to be abandoned. Stars, however, won on the first innings.
BRADMAN IN FORM. SYDNEY, February 16. In the grade cricket, batting for St. George against Randwick, toon Bradman made 187 ; for Petersham against Waverley, T. Andrews made 119; for Marrickville against Western Suburbs. Thatcher made 107. Bowling for Balmain against Northern District, Hunt took 4 for 33. It is interesting to note that during the past three weeks Don Bradman has registered 914 runs, /with six centuries in succession. S. AUSTRALIA v. VICTORIA. 5 ..,.1.11.-— .. ADELAIDE. February 16. In the Sheffield Shield match against Victoria, South Australia in the first innings made 110. Victoria in the first innings scored 118. Bowling for victoria, Davidson took 4 for 6, Ironmonger 3 for 37, Alexander 2 for 43, A’Beckett none for 21. Victoria in second innings mad 6 396 for 8 (A Beckett 152, Oakley 43. Ponsford 54, .1. Ellis not out 45).
