PALMERSTON N., November 27. In a strenuous and well-contested contest, which went the full distance, Tom Alley (U.S.A.), defeated George Walker (Canada) on points in the last round. Walker secured the first fall in the third round, but Alley made the points even with a submission fall in the seventh. Alley was the fresher of the two, and won the last round and the contest on his aggressiveness. SWIMMING. AUCKLAND, November 27. In a special attempt to lower the quarter mile swimming record, held by D. P .Lindsay, G. Bridson at the tepid baths to-night, covered the distance in smin 16 3-ssecs. This is K 7 4-5 seconds faster than Lindsay’s time. RUGBY FOOTBALL.
