MEETINGS
METHODIST ANNIVERSARY. The Sunday school anniversary of the Runanga Methodist Church was celebrated on Sunday. A. special contingent of the St. Paul’s (Greymouth) Bible Classes swelled the numbers at the morning service, at which an interesting address was delivered by Miss Sewell, who is the travelling sec-
retary of the Methodist Young Women’s Bible Class Movement. The afternoon and' evening services were characterised, by special singing by the Sunday school scholars under the baton of Mr John Smith, with Mrs Shotton at the organ. The singing was well received, and reflected credit on the efforts of the conductor, who had trained •-•the children also. The preacher at the afternoon service was Rev. G. E: Brown, of Greymouth, and solos were rendered by Misses Rafferty, Clay and Veta Downes, and recitations by Misses Malpass and Eva _ Downes, and Masters Downes, Basil Piner, and Leslie Wearne. The evening service was conducted by the minister, Rev. H. Noble, and solos were rendered in accomplished style by Misses. Radcliffe and Higson. Recitations! were ■ also given in acceptable fashion by Misses Veta Downes and Iris Piner, and Master Basil Piner, the last-nam-ed being well received. On Monday night, the children were entertained to a social and supper. It is intended to repeat some of the. items at the evening service of
Sunday next, December 1, when the Rev. F. T. Read, of Christchurch, will preach in the interests of the Methodist South Island Orphanages.
