After inheriting a fortune of £28,000 from an uncle in England 12 months ago, following on a hard struggle to live, Mr L. W. M. Brown, of Hamilton, died in a private hospital on Saturday, after an operation for appendicitis (telegraphed the “Star’s” Auckland correspondent). Mr Brown, who was 59 years of age, had been actively connected with nearly every sport in Hamilton. His good fortune made little difference to him, and he still carried on a labour and land agency, which he had been running for some years. Footballers to-day wore black armlets as a mark of respect. He leaves a widow and six sons.
