FARMERS AND MR' POLSON;
(Per Press Association.)
TIMARU, September 1.
A. strong protest was made by some members of the Timaru St. Andrew’s branch of the Farmers’ Union at its monthly meeting against the attitude of the Dominion Farmers’ Union President, Mr W. J. Polson, MIP., in regard to the Budget proposals. One member said' that Mr Poison should not hold the position that he did today.
The Chairman said that Mr Polson had given- the assurance that he did not make the statement which had caused the trouble. It appeared as if: the whole of the South Island was after him. Mr P. Porter: “It is time they were. They should have been long ago. There is a- great deal of dissatisfaction among members of the Farmers’ Union, and it has been caused by Mr Polson.” . He asserted that so long as Mr Polson remained at the head of the Farmers’ Union, the matter would not be cleared up. Mr A. Ward said that they were hardly tolerant enough with their President.
The meeting, however, did not pass any motion on the matter.
