LEPERS INVADE TOWN
ESCAPE FROM SEGREGATION. LONDON, August 19. Twenty lepers, after escaping front the Ismail segregation camp, threw the town of Jassy, 200 miles north of Bucharest, into a panic, says the Vienna correspondent of the Daily Mail. They presented themselves at the prefecture, demanding better treatment, anil all but the gendarmes fled. The gendarmes, had the utmost difficulty in persuading the lepers to return, threatening to shoot them if they refused. A decree was issued ordering the disinfection of the entire town.
