ROYAL SHOW
WELLINGTON AS VENUE.
(Per Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, April IS.
The report presented at the meeting of the general committee of the Wellington Show Association, stated that the Executive of the Royal Agricultural Society had waited upon the chairman, treasurer, and manager of the Association, after an inspection had been made of the show grounds and buildings. A full discussion took place in regard to the general conditions, and a further extension of the grounds to accommodate a Royal Show. The whole question was at present under consideration by the Association’s Finance Committee, and a further report would be presented at the next general meeting. An indication that Wellington was to be the permanent home of the Royal Show was given by Mayor Troup, when speaking at Lyall Bay. “I was in touch with one of the officials,” said Mr Troup, “and he assured me without any question that the Royal Show would be held in Wellington every year. They want a permanent home in the centre of New Zealand, and Wellington seems to be the most suitable of all the cities for it.”
