REEFTON, April 18

The cycle? race’ to Brazil’s was won by H. Lewis 1, D. Reid- 2, and Clarke 3. \ The Very Rev. D. Rieu, SuperiorGeneral of the Society of Mary,, accompanied by Very Rev. Father Moran, of Rome, and Very Rev. Dr Kennedy, Provincial of the Order in Australia and New Zealand are expected to arrive at Reefton to-day. Dr Rieu is visiting the home of all the Marist Fathers in New Zealand, and meets the parishioners of the Church of the . Sacred Heart to-day, and leaves for Nelson on Saturday morning. Mr R. Patterson, of Westport, was a visitor to Reefton yesterday. Mr Brett, County Engineer, reports that the demand for information regarding Maruia Springs has been particularly keen lately and he has prepared and forwarded some 30 plans to various parts of the Dominion. A meeting was held at the Council Chambers on Wednesday to decide on the observance of Anzac Day. Present: Messrs J. B. Auld (who was voted' to the chair), D. Panckhurst, Revs. Webb, Parsons, and Mr H. Cooper. It was decided to hold- the usual Aiizac Day services in the Princess Theatre, and the members of the various; denominations asked to cooperate and; arrange the service, and that the respective church choirs be asked to?attend the musical 5 portion of the services was left in the’ hands of Mr H. Cooper.
