SYDNEY, April 17
Simons Brothers’ garage, at Darlinghurst, was the scene of a tragedy today. Hearing two shots, William Simons, working in the garage office, rushed into the workshop, and found his brother, Joseph, dying, with a bullet wound in his temple. Philip Malouf, employed by Simons, was sitting in the workshop in a dazed condition with an automatic revolver in his hand. According to William Simons, who told the police that hte then knocked Malouf unconscious with a block of wood, the parties are members of wealthy Syrian families. William Simons stated that there had been some dispute over money missing from the till. William Simons was later charged with maliciously harming Malouf, and remanded till May 1. Bail was allowed. MURDERED FOR MONEY. MELBOURNE, April 17. The dead body of James Christensen, aged 55, an unmarried man, was discovered in a box-thorn hedge at East Colac. The police are convinced it is a case of wilful murder. Christensen’s head was badly battered. The victim possessed over £3O before his death, and the money had all gone when the body was discovered.
