RUNANGA NOTES

Mr T. Francis, who has been, on a short holiday to Christchurch, returned on Saturday. The tennis ball, which is to be held on April 12, is the first ball of the season. Streamers, balloons and flags are going towards the decorative scheme, while streamers, ballons, confetti ,etc., will play a big part in the programme. An energetic ladies’ committee has been formed to look after the supper arrangements. Cars and ’buses will be leaving Greymouth Post Office on the night of the ball. The two excursion trains which left Greymouth for Rapahoe Esplanade on Sunday, carried a large number of picnickers, who spent an enjoyable day. The beach was at its best, and games were played on the sand. The Runanga Band was in attendance and helped to make things go with a swing. Mr A. Blythe and Mr M. Hestor, of Blenheim, will arrive on Friday, and ' will be the guests of .Mr and Mrs A. J. Boddy. _ . Mr and Mrs G. Dinsdale arrived home on Saturday after spending a month in Christchurch.
Mr W. Hambly, of Wellington, is visiting his parents at Runanga. Mr W. Dando, of Sefton, will leave for his home on Thursday, after spending two months’ holiday with Mr and Mrs McTaggart. . It is rumoured that the marriage of a recent arrival who hails from the Land of the Haggis is to be celebrated shortly. . ~ , The marriage of Miss M. Dando to Mr Griffiths, of Brunner, will take place early next month. Mr J. Davison, of Wellington, who has been attending ehe funeral of his father, will return early this week.
