MOTORING MISHAPS
A CHILD’S DEATH.
(Per Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, March 23.
An inquest was held by Coroner Barton, S.M., into the death of a child, Joyce Mary Cowell, who was killed as the result of being knocked down by a motor-car in Jackson Street, Petone, on Wednesday afternoon last. In bringing in a verdict of accidental death, the Coroner said that he had come to the same conclusion as the witnesses, namely that no blame was attachable to the driver of the car. The evidence negatived any element of undue speed, for the car had just started. The driver had kept a proper look-out, and had pulled up sharply. It appeared that his attention had been attracted by another child in the narrow street while at the same time a vehicle was passing. In the circumstances, the Coroner thought there could be no blame attachable to anyone. CYCLIST KILLED. AUCKLAND, March 24.
