KUMARA NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent.) Mesdames Hendrickson (Christchurch), Little (Wellington) and Bush (Auckland), daughters of Air and Mrs McDonald, arrived in Kumara, in the early part of the week. Mrs Hendrickson returned to Christchurch on Thursday. Mr and Mrs L. Dewe, who have been on the sick list, are reported to be on the mend. Mrs Hamer (sen.) is an inmate of the Auckland Hospital. The sawmillers’ picnic held at the Taipo last Saturday was a successful function, every available vehicle in the town being brought into requisition to convey the children and --isitors to the ground. The Committee worked well, with the result that the outing was thoroughly enjoyed by young and old. Sergt. AlcGlone, of Westport, who has been visiting the Glaciers, arrived in Kumara on Wednesday, and is spending a few days with Mrs McGlone (sen.). Mr A. B. Spiers Left for Murchison in the early part of the week. He is expected to return home this evening. Airs Frazer, of Wairoa, is on a visit to her parents, Air and Airs Vlach. A little girl, five years old, daughter of Air and Airs AlcLoughlin, Main Street, was removed to the Westland Hospital on Saturday last, suffering from blood poison, it is said, the result of a stone bruise. Although critically ■ ill, she shows signs of improvement. *
