FIRE AT MAWHERAITI
BARN AND MILKING PLANT. An outbreak of fire which occurred at Mawheraiti shortly after noon yesterday resulted in the destruction of Mr A. D. Marsden’s barn and milking plant. The cause of the outbreak is unknown. The barn was a two-storey structure of silver pine, built about ten years ago, and had a concrete floor, while the plant was of a modern nature. The insurances, which are all in the New Zealand Office, total £550, and are as follow: Building £225, milking plant and machinery £225, farming implements £75, hay and sundries £25. Mr A. L. Gray, fire adjuster, will arrive from Christchurch on Tuesday.
