Mrs E. Fraser, of Leonard Street, is an inmate of the Grey Hospital,

Mr L B. Miller, who has been on a brief visit to Wellington, returned on Saturday.

Sir Harry Lauder, who is making a health tour of the Dominion,-is visiting his sister, Mrs F. Vallance, at Roto manu.

The death is announced from London of Sir William Maxwell, Scottish Co-operative leader.

Bishop Sadlier, of Nelson, will pay Holy Trinity Church a special visit on February 24.

Miss Peggy Bird, Wellington, is visiting Greymouth, and is the guest of Dr. and Mrs W. A. Bird.

The condition of Mr Victor McColl, the bushman injured in an accident, at South Beach, is still serious.

A London cablegram stated that Cardinal Bourne is suffering from influenza and will be incapacitated for a few days.

Mr P. J. McLean, who attended the Harbour Boards’ Conference at Auckland, returned to Greymouth on Saturday.

The death is announced from London of Mr. Jim Connell, secretary of the Workers’ Legal Society, the author of the “Red Flag’’.

Mr G. Hinds, manager of the Hokitika Gas Works, who has been attending the annual gas works managers’ conference at Wanganui, returned on Saturday.

The funeral of the late Mrs E. Carse took place yesterday at the Stillwater cemetery. The Rev. D. C. Bates took the services at the Holy Trinity Church and at the graveside. Many friends from the Brunner and Dobson districts attended.

Mr H. G. Davis, Chief Postmaster at Greymouth, left this morning by car on a tour to Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland, on annual leave. Mr H. Miller, supervisor of the Telegraph Department, will relieve him.

The death is announced from Sydney of Mr Harry Ambrose Russell, aged 64, senior partner in the legal firm of Sly and Russell, chairman of the “Daily Telegraph” Company and Deputy-Chairman of the “Sun” newspapers Ltd.
