AVIATION
ENGLAND TO AUSTRALIA (Australian Press Assn.—United Service.) (.By Cable—Press Assn—Copyright.) LONDON, January 25. Moir and Owen, after lengthy negotiations with British manufacturers, have been successful in obtaining an all-British machine to fly to Australia. , The details of the machine at present are not disclosed, but the aviators expect to leave for Australia very shortly. Last night they were guests of the Master of Sempill, at the Royal Aeronautical Society dinner and were congratulated on their flight to Greece. The Master of Sempill said that far too little had been seen or heard of Moir and Owen since they had been lin England. Airmen generally were keenly interested in the return flight. To-day, Moir and Owen are guests of Sir S. Brancker at the Army and Navy Club luncheon. MANA.WATU CLUB. WELLINGTON, January 26. Replying to a deputation from the Manawatu Aero Club, asking for official recognition from the Government, the Hon. T. M. Wilford said that if the club complied with all the conditions laid, down, he would be only too glad to give them recognition. They would have to have a qualified instructor and ground engineer, who would be responsible for the maintenance in airworthy condition of aircraft and equipment. There was no possibility during the present financial year of the Government assisting the club in purchasing a machine, but he could say quite fairly that if the club purchased i an aeroplane, not exceeding £lOOO, the ' Government would help it, and subject ! to Cabinet ratification the money would IJ be refunded during the next financial 1 1 year. „ | 1
