WEST COAST RUGBY LEAGUE

NEW GROUNDS CAMPAIGN.

A meeting of the West Coast Rugby League’s New Ground Campaign Committee was held last evening, the President, Mr J. D. Wingham, presiding over a large and representative attendance.

The organiser (E. I. Lord), presented a report on the activities of the different Queen Committees to date, which was deemed satisfactory. It was decided to hold the postponed sports on Saturday, February 9, and to open the nominations again, which now close on Saturday, February 2, at 8 p.m. The programme will be the same.

It was decided to hold a monster League rally at Mawheraiti at an early date, to take the form of a public picnic, trains leaving not only from Greymouth, but also from Dunollie, Runanga, Blackball and all stations en route. League supporters at Waiuta and Reefton are also to be invited to attend the picnic being the first annual reunion.

Letters of thanks were ordered to be sent to Messrs Beban and Wilde for their expression of willingness to assist the League in its endeavour to raise sufficient funds to make the new ground second to none as a playing area.
