Mr E. P. B. Brown,* of Rangiora, is’ visiting Greymouth. Mr R. J. Williams left this morning on holiday, for Christchurch. Mrs J. and MlsTm. McKenzie were passengers on this morning’s express for Christchurch. Mr and Mrs Caisley, of Auckland, are visiting Greymouth. They will return on Thursday. Mr H. Quane, who has been visiting Hokitika and Greymouth returned to Christchurch this morning.
Mr and Mrs W. McNabb left on holi-. day this morning for Christchurch and DunediiL \ Mr J. P. Coates, who has been spending a holiday in Sydney and Suva, re-, turned yesterday. Mr W. Meldrum, S.M., who has been visiting Christchurch, returned yesterday. ■ Mr O. J. Jaggers? of Christchurch (Railway Dept.), has been transferred to Greymouth. • ( Mrs G. add Miss Thelma Anderson, of Cobden, left by this morning’s-ex-press for Christchurch. Miss A. Hood and Miss A. Hamel, of Dunedin, arrived yesterday, and are the guests of Mr and Mrs F, Baldwin, Shakespeare Street. Captain W. J. Rogers, formerly Marine Superintendent at Wellington for the Blackball Coal Company, died on Saturday, aged 69. A widow and an adult family of three survive him. Mr T. Mitchell, manager of North Auckland Farmers’- Coy., Whangarei, is visiting his mother, Mrs Mitchell, Stafford. He is accompanied by Mrs Mitchell. The funeral of the late Mrs Emily • Walker, of Cobden, took place at Ka- ■ roro Cemetery this afternoon. The service, was conducted by the Vicar of ■ Cobden, Rev. W. Bell.
The funeral of the late Allan Evans, of Blaketown, took place at the Karoro Cemetery this afternoon, the service being conducted by the Rev. G. E. Brown.
The deaths are announced from London of Dr. Dawson Turner, the eminent radiologist, as the outcome of 30 years use of rays; Sir William Maxwell, war correspondent, and Mr John Lee, C.B.E. Controller of the Central Telegraph Office. .
The funeral of the late Mrs Elizabeth Reid, of Shakespeare Street, took place this morning at Karoro Cemetery, the service being conducted by the Rev. Father Holohan, 'who . also celebrated Requiem Mass at St. Patrick’s Church. . >
Mrs J. Griffey and Miss Griffen, .of Cowper Street, who have been visiting Christchurch, returned yesterday. Mr K. Griffen, who has been an inmate of Lewisham Hospital, has recovered sufficiently to. allow him to sppnd mas and New Year holidays with his sister, Mrs Leo. Higgins, Hamilton.
