FEDERAL ELECTIONS
LABOUR DEFEAT CERTAIN. (Australian Press Association.) : (By Cable—Press , Assn.—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, November 12. The Prime Minister, Mr. Bruce, has completed a whirlwind election tour of Australia. He says I he is confident that the present Government will be returned with a substantial majority. He says that Labour must win thirteen seats to unseat his Government, which is a hopeless task, especially in view of recent industrial turmoil. SENATE CANDIDATE DIES. MELBOURNE, November 13. Major General Forsyth, one of the Nationalist candidates for the Senate, died last evening, after a brief illness, from pneumonia, following influenza. He was aged 61. A difficulty arises in connection with the election papers, on which his name is printed. Instructions will be given to the returning officers to delete it. As only two Government candidates remain for the three vacant seats, Labour is assured of one. -> ROLL NUMBERS. CANBERRA, November 13. The number of voters on the Federal rolls for the election on Saturday total 3,457,555. Women number 1,730,529, or 3503 more than the men.
