WELLINGTON, September 27. The Church of England Empowering Bill was passed by the House to-day. Mr Coates informed Sir J. Ward that he hoped to end the session about Saturday week. In reply to Sir J. Ward, Dlr DD right stated the question of teachers’ salaries was receiving attention of the Education Department, which was trying to find a way of stabilising salaries, so as to avoid teachers transferring from one district to another. The question whether women, teachers should be paid (he same as men was also being considered. The Companies' Act Amendment Bill was read a second time. This Bill, inter-alia, provides for a simplified method of transferring shares of deceased' shareholders, without produe-, tion of probate, or letters of administration, in cases where th‘e value of shares does not exceed £2OO. A new provision sets out that a compromise or arrangement by threefourths (in value) of creditors or class of creditors voting in person, or by proxy, at a meeting shall be binding on all creditors if approved by the Supreme Court. An order under these < terms must be supplied ,to the Registrar of Companies, and a copy annexed to every- memorandum of the ' company, issued- after the order has been made. 1
