A committee meeting of the Public Tennis Club was held in the Hall on Friday evening; Mrs Cole presided over a good attendance. Trustees to handle the banking account were appointed as follow: Mrs Cameron and Mr R. Tomlinson. As the offices of committee have not been accepted it was decided to call a special general meeting for to-night to fill these vacancies. ' A meeting of the school committee was held, yhere were present Messrs J. O. Langley (chairman), J. A. McEwin (secretary), W. Hall, P. Jones, and H. Jones (headmaster). General business was transacted. It was resolved to open the school as from October 1, at the hour laid down by the Nelson Board’s regulations, namely 9 a.m.
On Friday heavy showers fell all day and though Saturday dawned clear, cold wet conditions set in.
