LATE MESSAGES
PALMERSTON N., September 15. Shortly after 2.30 this morning, fire on the premises in Main Street West, occupied by G. Diedrick, cabinetmaker, caused serious damage to the polishing room, besides destroying a quantity of valuable furniture ready for delivery. The building was owned by Mrs Godwin, Lower Hutt. Diedrich’s furniture was uninsured, and he is a. heavy loser.
PALMERSTON N„ Sept. 15. At the Supreme Court the following prisoners were sentenced to-day: — Walter Arthur Stevens, indecent act. two years’ probation; Arapera. Kaiora Hadfield, manslaughter, two years’ probation; Leslie Heptor Henderson, theft and falsifying accounts, three years reformative detention; Morgan Whittaker Priest, theft, falsifying accounts, and conspiracy to defraud, four years’ reformative detention; Jaim’js Harold Adam, theft and falsifying accounts, one year’s reformative detention.
