AFTER TWO OPERATIONS

An Auckland business man authorises the statement that after an operation for appendicitis, a rupture developed on the right side, that, as a doctor informed him that this could be easily cured by an operation, he submitted to same, but after a few weeks, the rupture again manifested itself! By the doctor’s advice he allowed another operation to take place, with similar unsatisfactory result. In despair of doctors’ treatment he then availed himself of Mr A. W. Martin’s presence in Auckland to undergo treatment by the Dr J. A. Sherman method of curing rupture and is now perfectly cured, and has not worn any appliance for nearly a year! Facts such as these should create confidence in MiMartin’s treatment. Indeed, very little consideration is necessary to convince anyone that the tendency to rupture, or re-rupture, is greater through an abdominal wall which has been weakened by the surgeon’s knife than through a sound abdominal wall. The human flesh is not to be likened to wood. It is said that the*part of any wooden article mended by glue is stronger at the mended part than anywhere else. This maj r be so, but a mend due to healing is always a weak spot. Mr Martin is a specialist in hernia; he has devoted many years to a study of the ailment, and has met with it in all its phases. He has cured numberless cases. He knows that no two cases are alike, and consequently that methods of treatment must differ. Don’t suffer the inconvenience of rupture a moment longer. Why should you? All your friends, for their sake, as well as your own, would like to see you cured. They know that then you will be more agreeable company; that there will be peace in the home.

Correspondence may be addressed to A. W. Martin, Samson Buildings, Dowling Street, Dunedin. A booklet on rupture and its treatment posted to any address free.- —A.D.
