NZ. COUNCIL MEETING. (Per Preen Association.) WELLINGTON, June 1. At a meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association, an announcement was made Ihat the International Federation had expressed surprise at the number of players in New Zealand, and it was suggested the Dominion should receive an extra vote. This will give it the status of a four-votes’ nation. The committee expressed pleasure at the success of New Zealand in the i first round or the Davis Cup trials, which gave them a standard by which to estimate our players as compared with other countries. A presentation was made to Mr Goldie in recognition of the work he did in connection with the visit of the ■ French tennis champions to New Zealand. The committee received the English Association’s resolution prohibiting players writing for the Press, etc., bitt it was considered the question did not much concern New Zealand, and no action was taken. One member even opposed giving publicity to the resolution. FRENCH CHAMPIONSHIPS. PARIS, May 31. At the hard court tournament, Boussus beat Patterson 6/1, 5/7, 9/7. Patterson retired. Akhurst beat Joan Fry 6/1, 6/1. LATER. Patterson states that he has bad tennis elbow, and is afraid lie' jvill be unable to compete at Wimbledon. Lacoste beat Crawford 6/0, 6/1, 7/5. Cochet beat Hunter 1/6, 6/3, 6/4, 6/3. Hawkes beat Robson (Argentina) 6/2, 6,3, 4/6, 6/1. Eileen Bennett beat Miss Anderson (United States) 6/3, 7/9, 7/5.
