OPERA HOUSE.
Babe Ruth, the most sensational baseball player in the history of the game, is the star of “Babe Comes Home,” which comes to the Opera House this evening. The picture deals with baseball. Some of its most thrilling scenes are of the game. There is comedy, pathos, and one of the most novel love stories. Anna Q. Nilsson and Louise Fazenda are featured and it is between Miss Nilsson and Babe Ruth the principal love story is developed. In the comedy-relief story are Ethel Shannon, Lon Archer, Arthur Stone, and other well-known actors.
There will also be an extra star feature screened entitled “The Honour System,” starring the popular, star, Milton Sills. ’ AUSTRALIAN SUNBEAMS. The Royal Australian Sunbeams shed their rays of light and laughter from the stage at the Opera House last evening, on their final appearance in Greymouth, and again completely captivated a large audience. The Sunbeams are, without a doubt, the brightest and cleverest juveniles who have sung, danced, and done acrobatic stunts on the West Coast for many a year. An almost continuous change of costumes, combined with effective lighting, provided really attractive stage pictures, while the dtincing—one of the features of the show —would not have disgraced any adults. One of the most successful vocal numbers was a duet, “My Blue Heaven,” while a monologue, “Henry’s Made a Lady Out of Lizzie,” provided something new in that line. The acrobatic work of the Sunbeams, particularly that of the younger members, was ace-high, and the entertainment generally thoroughly deserved the hearty applause which greeted it throughout. Before the final curtain, the Sunbeams reciprocated with three cheers for Greymouth. They will appear at Blackball this evening, and a packed house is indicated. BALL AT NGAHERE. On Friday, June 1, at 8 p.m., a ball will be held in the Ngahere Hall, the proceeds of which will be voted to the funds of the proposed Rugby League team. Ives's orchestra will supply the music, which will be all that lovers of dancing may desire. The floor will be in charge of an efficient M.C., while the supper arrangements will be in the hands of the ladies, which is sufficient to say everything will be of the best. Reserve Friday for a most enjoyable evening.
