PEACE IN SAMOA

MAU “POLICE” RELEASED.

(Special to Press Assn, by Radio.)

APIA, March 7.

Four hundred Mau police had their sentences suspended to-day, and were instructed to 'return to their homes and to co-operate with the loyal natives in their districts in holding meetings to decide upon any matter requiring alteration. The Administrator said that recognising they had been misled by nonnatives he was disinclined to continue their imprisonment, but they must understand that they must not defy the law any further. Several Mau natives paid their overdue rates on the conclusion of the meeting.
