Canterbury to-day regained the Wilding Shield from Wellington, winning in the series of seven matches to five for the first day. Canterbury led by five matches to one. Seay and France played brilliant tennis under the bad conditions. After losing the first, set against Walker, McGill led Walker 5-1 in the second set, and had four set points, three of them in one game, but he could not do the neecssary. Angus and Wilson played well, Wilson being the more- forceful and accurate. Angus and Walker overwhelmed Wilson and McGill in the doubles, and Olliver and Seay retired against France and Malfroy, it being stated that Olliver had ricked his back.
