It is stated on good authority that the Railway Department has purchased the Hutt Road bus service known as the Community buses, between Wellington and Petone, and will take over the running almost immediately. It is understood that the Company owns six almost new buses and these form the nucleus of a fleet the Department will run in conjunction with the railways.

At the, inquest on B. J. Dolan, barrister and solicitor, the verdict was death from the effects of coal gas poisoning self-administered while in a state of temporary mental depression.

Failure to account to Nimmo and Sons for £7/13/6, and three charges of theft involving £4, were admitted by Norman Pringle Davidson, salesman, 23, who further admitted possession of an automatic pistol. He got two years’ reformative detention, the Magistrate deciding that in face of his past history, he needed a period of discipline. William J. Candy was fined £4 for selling bacon containing boric acid.

George Shepherd, a carpenter, was admitted to the hospital with a fractured skull. It is stated that he was leaning over a lift-well in the new T. and G. buildings, sawing a piece of timber, when the lift descended and knocked him down three stories.
WELLINGTON, November 25. Mr Rolleston says that Captain Middleton, newly-appointed Director of Naval reserves has taken up his duties at Wellington, and is taking immediate steps to form a local division. Preference will be given Mercantile Marine officers who served during the war.
WELLINGTON, November 25. A wireless operator on the Norfolk was fined the minimum penalty of £25, for failing to declare a number of radio sets on the search list for the Customs Department when the vessel arrived at Auckland.
