tOur Own OorresponrtentJ REEFTON, October 29. Mr. Jno. F. Downey,. Inspector of Mines, who was recently injured through a horse falling on him, is making marked improvement towards recovery, but will not be fit for duty for some weeks yet. A gathering of West Coasters at Spreydon, Christchurch, was held on Oct. 21, to honour Gist birthday of Mr. William Eddy, a one time early resident of Reefton, when a very pleasant evening was spent. At the suppertable toasts, suitable to the occasion, were duly honoured. Among the guests were Mrs. Hewison, of Reefton. The second last football match of the season will take place on Sunday between Shop Assistants and Pirates, and will be the semi-final for the knock-out Cup.
