MAINTENANCE. An application’ to vary a maintenance order o£ 6/- per week, made in 1913, was put forward by a defendant, whose arrears amounted to £lOB. He now had a wife and two children to keep, and his earnings during the past 12 months averaged roughly £4 10/per week. He could make no offer. Mr W. P. McCarthy requested that the original order be suspended meanwhile, in order that an effort could be made to reach a compromise. He also asked that defendant’s name be suppressed. The S.M. suspended the original maintenance order for six months, and as publication of the might affect defendant’s wife and .children, he agreed to order its suppression. A maintenance order for 12/6 per week was made by consent agaiqst another defendant, who was also ordered to pay £l4 4/- expenses and £3 3/- costs. The question of sureties’was held over, Mr W. J. Joyce appeared for complainant, and Mr J. W. Hannan for defendant.
