KILLED BY TRAIN
CROSSING TRAGEDY (Per Press Association.) WHANGAREI, June 24. A tragic discovery was made by a railway employee at the Whakaparau crossing at six o’clock this morning. A decapitated body was ly- z ing alongside the railway, and the head some distance away. The subject of the tragedy was soon identified as Albert Nazer, storekeeper of Maungaturoto. The late Mr. Nazer was 60 years of age, and married, and was well-known in the district. An inquest will be held before Mr. T. Healey, Coroner, to-morrow morning. It is supposed that deceased met his death by being run over by the mid - night train from Auckland, which was the last train over that‘section of ihe line. YOUNG WOMAN’S DEATH DUNEDIN, June 24. At the inquest regarding the circumstances of the death of the young woman, Jane Finlay' Rennie, who was run over at Mosgiei by a train yesterday afternoon,,-the driver of the train stated that he had not seen anything in front of the train. He thought he was keeping a close watch, but lie felt an unusual movement of the engine. It was stated that portions of the body' had been dragged 40 yards. The inquest was adjourned so that the fireman’s evidence might be taken.
