TRADES UNION BILL

SUPPORT FROM WORKERS.

(Australian & N.Z. ■ Cable Abbu.)

LONDON, April 27.

The “Daily Telegraph’s” lobbyist states: “The Unionist members of the House of Commons, who are returning from their constituencies, report that thousands of steady-going Trades Unionists do not accept the Labour members’ representation of the Trades Union Bill, and welcome the prospects, of greater freedom under the measure. The Ministerial supporters are satisfied there is a solid mass of public opinion behind the Bill.”

LABOUR OBSTRUCTION.

LONDON. April 26

To-day’s meeting of the Parliamentary Labour Party was chiefly concerned with the'fight against the Bill Mr Clynes, in the absence of Mr MacDonald. will move the rejection of the Bill on Monday. An indication of the temper of the Labour Party is shown by to-night’s rumour that the Labour Party has decided to Wl:eak off relations with the Government whips and to give a free run to the Labour back-benches to obstruct business, in which case the Government will have a heavy task in piloting the Bill through the House of Commons.
