AUCKLAND AFFRAY

WOMAN | TO RESCUE.

(Per Press Association.)

AUCKLAND, April 14.

Cries for help on Mangere Bridge, last night, brought a prompt response from passers by, who found one man on the ground and two others attempting to take something from him. Mr Allen Senior caught one man as he was attempting to jump a fence and held him until help arrived. His daughter seized the other fellow, who appeared to strike her a heavy blow, when Allen felled him with a right hander. All three men concerned in the affray were lodged in the police station, where a handbag stated to be in possession of the man assaulted, was found to contain opium, worth about £2O.
