SCOTLAND BEATS IRELAND.

LONDON, Feb. 26.

At Belfast Scotland beat Ireland at Soccer by 2 to 0. There were forty thousand* spectators. The weather was fine. WESTLAND ASSOCIATION. The annual general meeting of the Westland Football Association was held on Saturday evening. Mr Richmond was voted to the chair. The annual report was read and received, and the balance-sheet showing a credit balance was received as satisfactory. The election of officers resulted in Mr Robertson being chosen President, who then took the chair, and'thanked those present. Vice-Presidents: .Messrs Airey, C'rankshaw, Hughes (Dobson), McLean, Cox, and Campbell, with power to add; secretarytreasurer, J. Sharp; auditor, J. Balderstone.

It was resolved that a management committee be elected to conduct the business of the Association, and the following were elected : —The President, Messrs Airey, Crankshaw, Rutherford, and the Secretary. It was resolved that all nominations of clubs for senior and junior competitions be in the Secretary’s hands by March 8, accompanied by two guineas for nomination fee for seniors. It was also decided to levy gate receipts to the extent of 25 per cent. It was also resolved that clubs send in names of referees as early as possible.

The election of a committee to conduct schools’ football resulted in Messrs Barrett, Williams, Wick, Pearson, and Bros. Paschal and Tarcisius being chosen. The President kindly donated a set of medals to winners of the B grade competition. Correspondence in connection with the Canadian visit and a proposed Canterbury senior and school rep. team was read, and will be dealt with at an early date by the Management Committee.

The Canterbury games are due to be played on March 26.
