BEAM WIRELESS
TESTS CONTINUED (Australian & N.Z. Cable Assn.) LONDON, Feb. 25. Though considerable publicity has been given the Amalgamated Wireless Company’s announcement that the beam test was very satisfactory, Marconis’ have not made any announcement beyond circulating the Amalgamated message. It is understood that the twentyfour hours’ continuous achievement averaged forty-two words a minute. It is gathered that Marconis do not admit there were ever any deficiencies at this eiid, and claim that their stations at Grimsby and Skeness were always ready to hand over. Marconis,’ replying to inquiries, said that in the very near future they would ask the Post Office to make an official test, with a view’ to the early taking over of stations. Experts here suggest that apart from Australian adjustments, the shortening days in Australia, are bound to have beneficial effect on transmission and reception.
